Helping the Homebound Care for Their Pets
"My dog is my best friend. Thank you for making it possible to keep him with me, in my own home."
What is Ani-Meals?
- Ani-Meals is just one of the special services provided by Meals-on-Wheels of Johnson and Ellis Counties to homebound seniors and disabled people in local communities.
- Volunteers deliver donated dog and cat food to Meals-on-Wheels recipients in their community, once a month.
- Ani-Meals prevents clients with limited resources from sharing their home-delivered meals with their pets.
- It enables individuals to keep their companion animals, providing a special quality to their lives and saving their pets from an uncertain fate.
How can I Help?
- By delivering pet food in your community once a month
- By making a donation of money or dog/cat food to Meals-on-Wheels
- By partnering with Meals-on- Wheels as a "pick-up" location for delivery, or a "drop-off" location for donated food
- By holding a pet food drive to benefit the program—an ideal project for your office, school, church group, or organization
Pets are Important to the Elderly...
- A dog or cat is more than a pet; it can provide friendship, joy, and a reason for living
- Studies show that animal ownership also lowers illness levels and mortality rates
- Most lack the resources to maintain companion pets, which may be their only “family” member, and keep them healthy
Currently we are serving Burleson, Waxahachie & Palmer with plans to expand into other communities soon.
