| Mayors Deliver on March 21,
2007
Meals-on-Wheels of Johnson & Ellis Counties hosted “Mayors
For Meals Day” as a part of their March For Meals campaign
on Wednesday, March 21, 2007. 16 local mayors in Johnson & Ellis
County, participated in the event to show his/her support for the
community’s seniors.
Meals-on-Wheels “Mayors For Meals Day” event included
all the mayors delivering in their respective communities. “We
are excited about having so many participate in our event. We hope
to raise awareness of senior hunger in our community,” said
Amy Jackson, director of development.
March For Meals is a national campaign, in which Meals-on-Wheels
is a participant, to raise awareness of senior hunger, and to encourage
action on the part of the local community. Senior nutrition programs
across the United States promote March For Meals in their local
communities through public events, partnerships with local businesses,
volunteer recruitment and fundraising initiatives. “Mayors
For Meals Day” is a component of March For Meals that utilizes
the involvement of local Mayors.
